It’s summer in the south, and if you live here, you know what that means. It’s hot. Very hot. It’s crawl into the bat cave and stay there kind of hot. When it’s this miserable outside, the last thing you want to do is stand over a hot stove for long periods of time. The littles need sustenance, though, so you’ve got to fix something. This sweet little Cheeseburger Slider recipe will have you in and out of the kitchen pretty quickly.

It all starts with the bun. You can use a traditional slider bun if you want to, but I really like the sweet Hawaiian rolls, so that’s what I used.

Dice up at least a half of a Vidalia Sweet Onion, and sauté it in a little olive oil until it’s translucent. I use the sweet onions because they are the only ones I can cut, chop, or dice up without my eyeballs completely burning out of their sockets.
When the onion is translucent, add in 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef and season with salt, pepper, Montreal steak seasoning, and Old Bay. Go ahead and mince up 2 to 3 cloves of garlic and preheat your oven to 350 F. Cook the beef until it is no longer pink, then drain if needed. Put the meat back in the skillet and add in the fresh minced garlic. Cook this just until you can smell the garlic, 30 seconds to a minute.

I can’t stand soggy bread, so after I slice the sliders in half sideways, I place the bottom half of the bread on a tray I use to put cookies on to cool. Then I cover the bread with 6 slices of any kind of cheese I want to. This time, it was Swiss. Next, I put this tray in my preheated oven just until the cheese starts to melt, and the bottom of the bun is firm.
After the bottoms are ready, it’s time to add the meat. Pile it on top of the bottom layer of slider buns and add 6 more slices of your favorite cheese (I used American). Then, set the top layer of buns on top of the meat. Melt a couple of Tablespoons of butter and spread it on top of the buns. Sprinkle the tops with poppy seeds, or sesame if you want, and some garlic powder. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops are brown.

These little Cheeseburger Sliders make a great meal at home, or you can make them for family get togethers, potlucks, or parties. Enjoy!
